If measurements ever make you pause mid-project, you’re not alone — and I’ve got you covered! Understanding how to read your ruler makes crafting so much easier and more enjoyable.
This handy chart breaks down everything between 0 and 1 inch, showing you exactly what each line represents. Those little lines aren’t just decoration — they each have a purpose!
✨ Here’s how it works:
-
The longest lines mark full inches (0, 1, 2, etc.).
-
The next longest lines show ½ inch.
-
Slightly shorter lines mark ¼ and ¾.
-
Even smaller lines represent ⅛ increments.
-
The tiniest lines are 1⁄16, perfect for precise cuts and layers.
When you’re measuring cardstock, designer paper, or scoring lines, these small differences matter — especially when you want clean layers and perfectly aligned cards.
I keep this chart nearby when I’m creating, and I hope it helps you too when you’re crafting and thinking, “Which line is that again?” π
Save it, pin it, or print it for your craft space — and happy measuring! π✂️
XO-
Christina K.
