Creating Depth with Layers...
is one of my favorite ways to bring a card to life!
Mixing patterns, textures, and a little dimension helps create depth and make your focal point really pop. Don't be afraid to overlap elements and play with contrast-those small details make a big impact.
+ Start with contrast - use light, medium adn dark colors to help each layer stand out. High contrast instantly adds dimension.
+ Vary textures - Mix smooth cardstock with embossed pieces, patterned paper specialty finishes to keep the eye moving.
+ Change sizes slightly - Mat your focal elements just a bit larger or smaller so each layer peeks out without overpowering the design..
+Use dimension strategically- Pop up focial images or sentiments with foam adhesive while keeping background layers flat for balance.
+ Overlap elements - lets hearts labels, or die cuts overlap to create a natural flow and visual interest.
+ Add small embellishments - Rhinestones, enamel dots or glitters accents draw attention and enhance depth without clutter.
+ Frame your focal point - Use shapes or mats behine your main image to anchor it and give the desing structure.
+ Mind the visual weight - Heavier, darker elemts work best toward the bottom or center to ground your card.
Tip: Step back and look at your card from distance-if your focal point pop first, your layering worked.
